Senpinshan
A moment to unwind in the city.
Senpinshan in the Iidabashi and Kudanshita area serves chewy handmade knife-shaved noodles alongside authentic Sichuan dishes like stone-roasted mapo tofu and mouthwatering chicken, offering hearty flavors at accessible prices.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Chewing into the thick, uneven ribbons of Senpinshan's knife-shaved noodles reveals the rustic aroma of wheat flour paired with a distinct, springy bite. A specialty of the house, these handmade noodles come in diverse styles—from creamy and spicy Dan Dan broth to tingling mala soup or bowls topped with roasted pork. Each version balances deep, aromatic broth with the hearty heft of the cut dough. Diners can also tailor their bowl with extra coriander or other garnishes to find their preferred balance of fragrance and heat.
Beyond the noodle menu, the kitchen turns out an assortment of dishes laced with Sichuan spices. Sizzling stone-pot mapo tofu arrives steaming hot, delivering the intense fragrance and numbing tingle of Sichuan peppercorns alongside robust savory depth. The spread can be expanded with generous plates of classic mouthwatering chicken (youdouji), house-made seafood spring rolls, and pan-fried stick dumplings. Recipes range from mild comfort to sinus-clearing spice, making crisp bites like Sichuan-spiced fried eggplant or fried soft-shell crab great companions to a cold beer.
Set among the office blocks of Iidabashi 2-chome, Senpinshan provides comfortable table seating suitable for a quick weekday lunch set or an unhurried evening of sharing dishes over drinks. Contactless payments, including PayPay and Rakuten Pay, are supported alongside credit cards, making it an easy drop-in spot for lively, authentic Chinese dining.
